Terms of Service

Last updated · April 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the LoreMaster mobile app and the playloremaster.com website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use LoreMaster. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission. The Service is not intended for users in jurisdictions where its use would be unlawful.

Your account

You are responsible for the activity that happens on your account, for keeping your credentials confidential, and for the accuracy of information you provide (including your display name). You may delete your account at any time from the app’s Settings screen.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • cheat, automate gameplay, or manipulate scores, streaks, duels, or rankings;
  • impersonate another person or use a display name designed to mislead;
  • upload illegal, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit content;
  • reverse-engineer the Service except where law expressly permits;
  • access the Service through unauthorized clients or attempt to disrupt it.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.

Content and intellectual property

LoreMaster, including its design, code, copywriting, original images, and quiz authoring system, is owned by us and is protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial entertainment.

You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., display name, reports). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and operate that content as needed to run the Service.

Third-party realms

LoreMaster references fictional universes (Middle-earth, Westeros, Hogwarts, Arrakis, the Star Wars galaxy, the 41st Millennium, the Marvel Universe, and others) for educational and entertainment purposes. All trademarks, characters, settings, and lore are the property of their respective rights holders. LoreMaster is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of those rights holders.

Purchases and pricing

LoreMaster is free to play. If we introduce paid features in the future, those purchases will be handled by the relevant app store (Google Play). Refunds are governed by the store’s own policies.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if your conduct creates risk for other users, or if we discontinue the Service.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that quiz content will be exhaustive or perfectly accurate. Quiz questions are authored to be enjoyable, not authoritative.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LoreMaster and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) ten U.S. dollars.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and excluding the conflict-of-laws rules of German private international law.

The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms is the competent court for the operator’s place of residence in Germany, provided that you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, or you do not have a general place of jurisdiction in Germany.

If you are a consumer with habitual residence in the European Union, the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence remain unaffected by this choice of law. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under such mandatory rules.

EU online dispute resolution

The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform (OS) at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
